Whether you’re applying for a job in Taiwan or in other countries, one of the things that you absolutely must accomplish is the Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS). Provided by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), this is a mandatory seminar for all prospective Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
Conducted online, the PEOS informs aspiring OFWs about the requirements and steps involved in overseas job deployment. It also discusses their rights, and offers tips for avoiding scammers and illegal recruiters. The seminar is offered free of charge.

Guide to Registering for PEOS Online
The Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) is a computer based program that provides prospective OFWs with essential information about getting hired and working overseas. It covers topics such as documentary requirements, costs, and application procedures, along with details about the host country.
Through the PEOS, aspiring OFWs are better prepared mentally, emotionally, and financially for their jobs abroad. More importantly, it helps prevent cases of illegal recruitment and human trafficking, since the job applicants are made aware about legal procedures.
Register for PEOS Online: Step-by-step Guide
If you are applying for a job abroad and you’re wondering how the PEOS is done, here is a brief description of the steps involved:
Go to the PEOS Official Website
Using a laptop, personal computer, mobile phone, or tablet, go to the PEOS official website. Make sure that you are accessing the official site, and not fake or “phishing” sites. Furthermore, make sure that you have a stable Internet connection for fast processing.
Create an e-Registration Account
If you already have a DMW e-registration account, simply enter your details and log-in. Otherwise, you’ll need to create one.
To create an account, click “Register Now” and enter your full name, email address, contact number, and password (don’t forget to remember this). Click “Submit.” Then, check your email and open the verification message from PEOS. Click the link in the email message to activate your e-Registration account.
Choose Your Module Type
On the PEOS website, enter your e-Registration number, last name, and first name. Under “Module Type,” choose between “Professional/Skilled” or “Household Worker” (i.e. the category that best fits your target job abroad).

Start the Seminar Modules
Once you have logged in, you can start the seminar. There are eight modules, which contain readings, videos, and interactive questions. Take time to read the lessons and watch the videos, because there will be a quiz at the end of each module.
Here are the topics covered by the modules:
- Pricest. General information about working abroad, such as income and expenses, career movement, skills, relationships, etc.
- Job Search. Information about application channels for overseas jobs, required documents, and the importance of the Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC).
- Forewarned, Forearmed. Information about precautionary measures to avoid various forms of illegal recruitment.
- The Price is Right. List of required fees for pre-departure, including government-mandated fees and other rulings.
- Seal the Deal. List of provisions required in standard overseas employment contracts.
- Country Information. Information about the target host country.
- Healthy & Safe. Information about security and health risks that OFWs may encounter abroad.
- DMW Cares. Directory of DMW Regional Offices and Extension Units.
Answer the Quizzes
At the end of each module, there’s a short quiz that you need to take. You must pass these quizzes to complete the seminar.
Download the PEOS Certificate
After completing all the modules, you will receive a PEOS Certificate. Download and print this document, because you’ll need to submit this when applying through a DMW-accredited recruitment agency.
Important Reminder
Keep in mind that the PEOS is provided free of charge by the DMW. Beware of anyone who is charging you an “assistance fee” for creating an account or accessing the modules!
