In this article, we’ve gathered some of the most famous theme parks in the country. These include various-themed entertainment parks, water parks, an aquarium, and even a science park! E-DA Theme Park

E-DA Theme Park is a “Greek style” destination located in Dashu District, Kaohsiung City. It is reported to be the largest theme park in southern Taiwan! There are three main areas: the Acropolis, Trojan Castle, and Mountain City.

At the Acropolis, visitors can watch outstanding performances at the Royal Theater. At Mountain City, they can stroll and take pictures at the gorgeous Santorini-inspired structures. Finally, at Trojan Castle, they can look back at the legendary story of the Trojan Horse, and how the beautiful “Helen of Troy” sparked a war between the City of Troy and the Achaeans (Greeks).

Other notable rides and attractions at E-DA Theme Park include the Flying Tiger, Haunted House, Monorail, and Mini Tug.

Farglory Ocean Park

Situated in Yanliao Village, Shoufeng Township, Hualien County is Farglory Ocean Park. Opened in December 2002, it is known as the first marine theme park in the country. Spanning a vast, 51-hectare area, the park is divided into eight amusement zones: Main Street, Mariner’s Cove, Harbor Square, Discovery Island, Underwater Kingdom, Dolphin Lagoon, Brighton by the Sea, and Crystal Castle. There’s a cable car that offers visitors a magnificent, bird’s eye view of the entire park.

At Farglory Ocean Park, visitors will surely have a blast at the numerous water slides, bumper boats, roller coasters, and other attractions. For families, the dolphin show is also a must-see!

Janfusun Fancyworld

In Yongguang Village, Gukeng Township of Yunlin County, you will find Sky Wheel, the tallest Ferris wheel in Taiwan at 88 meters (289 feet)! The giant Ferris wheel contains 50 passenger capsules, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the park, and the vast Chianan Plain beyond.

Sky Wheel is part of Janfusun Fancyworld, an amusement park that opened in 1986. The park includes rides and attractions for all ages, such as: Happy Treasure Island, The Poseidon, Kuku Coaster, and Magical Cake House (for young kids); Insane Speed and Diving Machine G5 (roller coasters for adults and older children). It also features live performances, a museum, food stalls, and restaurants.

Leofoo Village Theme Park

Situated in Guanxi Township, Hsinchu County is the Leofoo Village Theme Park, an amusement park and safari in Taiwan. The park was initially established in 1979 as “Leofoo Wildlife Park,” before getting renamed and reestablished in 1989.

Leofoo Village Theme Park is divided into several themed areas. First, there’s Arabian Kingdom, an “adventure-magic” themed area where one of the main attractions is the Ring of Fire, featuring riders spinning inside a huge metal circle. Second, there the “tropical” themed South Pacific area, whose top attraction is the Drop Tower, a thrilling ride that “drops” passengers to the ground!

Other themed areas are the Wild West, featuring the Screaming Condor, an inverted coaster; and African Safari, which includes Sahara Twist, a “twist and turn” coaster. Of course, since there’s a safari, the park also has areas for horse feeding, horse riding, and other activities where guests can view or interact with animals.

LIHPAO Discovery Land

Located in Houli District, Taichung City is LIHPAO Discovery Land, one of Taiwan’s most popular theme parks. It was initially established as “Yamay Recreation World” or “Yamay Discovery World” in 1998, before becoming LIHPAO Discovery Land in 2012.

The park’s top attractions include Gravity Max, which happens to be the first “tilt coaster” in the world, featuring a 90-degree drop! Guests also love the Mine Express roller coaster, Hook pirate ship ride, and Wild Flume Adventure (a reverse log flume ride). In addition, the park offers exciting areas and attractions like Fairy Tale Village, Palace of Dreams, Yamay Island, Discovery Walk, Sky Dream (ferris wheel), Enchanted Forest, and D Street.

Little Ding-Dong Science Theme Park

Little Ding-Dong Science Theme Park happens to be the only outdoor natural science park in the country; it is situated in Xinfeng Township, Hsinchu County. Originally, the park was opened in 1979, with the aim of promoting scientific knowledge and creativity in children.

Covering an area of around 30 hectares, the park is divided into eight main sections, and offers 30 “science based” activities related to light, sound, water, wind, power, and electricity. It also has a swimming pool, a camping area, and an indoor skiing facility… the biggest in Taiwan!

Taipei Children’s Amusement Park

Located in Shilin District, the Taipei Children’s Amusement Park is the biggest publicly operated amusement park in the country. Opened on December 16, 2014, the park covers five hectares, divided into several zones, namely: Dream Ocean, Fantasy Forest, Magic Planet, and Toy Soldier Kingdom.

The most popular rides in the park include: Ocean Carousel, Ferris Wheel, Monorail (Single Rail Train), Crazy Bus (Flying Bus), Wave Swinger (Radial Flying Chairs), Telecombat (Spinning Aircraft), Spinning Tea Cups, Spinning Chairs (Swiveling Chairs), Swing Ship (Pirate Ship), and Magic Star Trek (Roller Coaster).

Taipei Water Park

Situated in Zhongzheng District is Taipei Water Park, a must-visit attraction in the capital. It all began in 2000, when the Taipei Water Department started setting up the Museum of Drinking Water and restoring the Taipei Pumping Room. In 2002, the project included part of the Gongguan Water Treatment Plat, and the entire area was renamed “Taipei Water Park.”

The park is composed of several sections, namely: Museum of Drinking Water, Guanyinshan Reservoir, Historical Water Metering Room Plaza, Water Country Park, Gongguan Riverside, Guanyin Hill Hiking Area, Water Distribution Materials, Pipe Sculpture Area, and Environmental Education Center. So as you can see, it is not just a place to have fun, but also to learn about many things!

Window on World Theme Park

As the name says, Window on World Theme Park is literally like a “mini world,” featuring 133 famous landmarks and structures in Mini Taiwan, Mini Asia, Mini America, and other sections.

Established in 1984, the theme park is situated in Longtan District, Taoyuan City. Aside from offering many indoor and outdoor rides (e.g. Bumper Cars, Jumping Stars, Strawberry Wheel, Wild UFO, etc.), the park also features exciting performances such as “OPEN! Costume Show,” “Funny Clowns,” and many more!

Xpark

Technically speaking, Xpark is an aquarium (not a theme park), but it’s really popular in Taiwan. It is situated on the first three floors of Landmark Plaza, a shopping mall in Taoyuan City.

Opened in August 2020, Xpark is the first “urban aquatic park” in the country, featuring numerous aquatic species. It was established by Yokohama Hakkejima, a company that has been operating aquariums in Japan for over 30 years! The park features a 360-degree “immersive space,” offering guests an unforgettable experience!
