Fengchia Night Market
Located in Xitun District, Fengchia Night Market has been around since the early 1960s, when the Feng Chia College of Engineering and Business was established. Over the years, it has grown into a 1.5-kilometer stretch comprised of retail shops, restaurants, food stalls, and even fashion boutiques. It is the perfect place for travelers to shop, dine, and experience local cuisine!
Dajia Jenn Lann Temple
For more than 200 years, the Dajia Jenn Lann Temple in Dajia District has attracted pilgrims and tourists. Among its popular features are the Violet Jade Matzu and the Golden Matzu, which can be found at the cultural museum in the temple basement.

Guguan Hot Spring
Guguan Hot Spring in Heping District is one of Taichung’s natural wonders, with Bashan Mountain as backdrop and facing the Dajia River. Legend says that after Japanese Emperor Meiji bathed in the spring, his wife conceived and gave birth to a son. For this reason, the place is also called “Meiji Hot Springs” or “Son Springs.”
Today, visitors can explore many attractions around Guguan Hot Spring, including: suspension bridges, the Shaolai Walking Trail, and the Cultural Museum of Hot Spring.
Gaomei Wetlands
Situated on the southern part of Dajia River estuary is Gaomei Wetlands, a must-visit natural attraction in Qingshui District, Taichung. Spanning around 1,500 acres, the area is home to migrating birds during fall and winter, making it a top favorite among bird watchers. The area also features windmills, lagoons, a pagoda, harbor, and a lighthouse.

Lishan Scenic Area
Another natural attraction in Taichung is Lishan Scenic Area, which covers three main zones: Lishan, Gukuan, and Siyuan Yakou. Covering an area of more than 31,000 hectares, it is situated on the western portion of the Central Cross-Island Highway, featuring numerous hot springs, hiking trails, and breathtaking landscapes.
Maple Garden
For city dwellers who need a quick break from their busy schedules, the Maple Garden is a natural haven. Located beside Taiwan Boulevard in Taichung City, the 3-hectare, U-shaped garden features shrubs, trees, a lake, and observatory bridge. Many people come here to exercise, jog, have a picnic, or simply hang out.

Miyahara
Located in Central District, Miyahara is one of the most popular attractions in Taichung City. It has a fascinating history, starting in 1927 when it was built by Japanese ophthalmologist Miyahara Takeo. Eventually, the building housed the Taichung Health Bureau, before slowly falling apart and becoming unused for a long time.
After many years, a pastry company, Dawn Cake, acquired the building, preserving much of its architecture and transforming it into a structure reminiscent of Hogwarts Castle (in the Harry Potter books). Today, tourists visit Miyahara to marvel at the historic architecture, and also to enjoy Dawn Cake’s products: bubble tea, ice cream, pastries, and pineapple cake!
National Taichung Theater
For theater enthusiasts, the National Taichung Theater in Xitun District is a must-visit. Designed by Toyo Ito, a famous Japanese architect, the eye-catching structure combines modern and cultural features. Indeed, the building is a marvel in itself, making it one of Taichung’s most popular and iconic landmarks.

Old Taichung Train Station
The Taichung Train Station was built in 1917, during the Japanese occupation period of Taiwan. It played a major role in the development of railway transport — not only in Taichung, but in the whole country. Today, it is no longer operational, but still stands as a major landmark, officially announced as a historic site in 1995.
Rainbow Village
The houses in Rainbow Village, Nantong District is filled with colorful artworks, including cultural and traditional designs. It used to be a small military community, before a local elderly veteran transformed it into the popular destination it is today.

Taichung Park
The 10-acre Taichung Park is the oldest park in Taichung City, built during the Japanese occupation period. Featuring gardens, pavilions, a lake, and arch bridges — it’s a great place for people to relax and enjoy natural views. At the park, people can also visit the Houxing Pavilion, which was officially declared a historic site in 1999.
Taroko Mall
Originally named De An Mall, this mall is one of Taichung City’s biggest shopping malls. It was renamed MODE Mall in 2010, before being acquired by Taroko Development and renamed “Taroko Mall.” The 11-storey building houses numerous retail stores, restaurants, a kids’ playground, and other entertainment facilities.

Tung Hai Arts Street
Art enthusiasts should go to Tung Hai Arts Street, which is located near Tung Hai University at Longjing District. Lined with coffee shops, tea houses, pottery museums, and fashion boutiques — this street offers plenty of sights and sounds for eager travelers.
Wuling Farm
Set in a valley in the high mountains of Taichung, Wuling Farm is a breathtaking destination for nature lovers. Here, you will find hiking trails, pavilions, a camping zone, and a hotel, too! You can also buy agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, and tea. The best times to visit Wuling Farm is from July to October (fruit harvest time), and from November to January (fall and winter).

Wuqi Fisherman’s Wharf
In 1989, Wuqi Fisherman’s Wharf was established at Qingshui District. Over the years, it has grown from a small fishing village into a modern development visited by locals and tourists alike. Today, the wharf includes areas for fishing, boating, dining, shopping, and recreation.
Zhongshe Tourism Flower Market
Located in Houli District, Zhongshe Tourism Flower Market is frequently visited by plant lovers, including locals and travelers. Each season marks a special feature: blooming tulips and lilies from January to March, strawberry-picking from December to April, and more. The place also includes gardens, viewing areas, and a cafe.
